CONGLETON RUFC HAVE SUCCEEDED IN PLAYING THE LONGEST GAME OF RUGBY UNION EVER PLAYED* !

Two invitation sides formed from players around the country kicked-off at  17:00 on the Friday 22nd July and finished 24 HOURS, 30 MINUTES AND 6 SECONDS LATER  on Saturday 23rd July at 5.30pm.

* The new record is subject to approval by Guinness World Records.

Venue : Congleton Park, Congleton, Cheshire 

Two teams of 22 players played through the night and through various injuries to ensure this success.

For the record, the final score was Mali Lions 894   Congleton Bears 715

An estimated £10,000 was raised in support of the Mali Initiative and the Mercian Regiment.
